Richard D. Weaver is a Certified Medical Illustrator
working in images created through both traditional and digital techniques as he illuminates scientific information with accuracy and targeted design. His images have appeared on the covers and inside of medical publications in the United States and Internationally.
Having begun illustrating anatomical subjects for academic publications while a pre-med undergraduate in Boulder, Colorado, Richard has had his scientific work appear in textbooks, journals and many editorial pieces in literary publications. Moving to southern California after also graduating from the Colorado Institute of Art, Richard prepared highly-detailed technical art for the aerospace industry and Department of Defense then migrated to the corporate world of creative services and international publishing, design and management.
Following his calling for Science and a talent for organizing complex information, Richard returned to Bio-Medical art and achieved the designation of Certified Medical Illustrator, the gold standard for quality and accuracy. He continues his creative work as a consultant and freelance illustrator after returning to Colorado, where he enjoys an active existence in the mountains of the Western Slope.
He also enjoys and draws comics and the graphic narrative. More than just a guilty pleasure!
